Our story

A church in Boyds since 1857

St. Mark's is a United Methodist church, established in 1857. The church is a historical site and a staple in the community.

  1. 1857

    A church on donated land

St. Mark's is established on land donated by Captain Boyd.

  2. The building

    Built on logs

The church was built on a foundation of logs. It has stood through time as a family: loving, spiritual and Bible teaching.

  3. A discovery

    The time capsule

A time capsule was found at the church, holding marriage licenses that go back to the 1700s.

  4. The last three years

    Closed for repairs

An insect infestation and structural damage closed the building. Today we worship together on Zoom every Sunday at 9 AM.

  5. Next

    Open the doors again

We are raising money to repair the building. See how you can help.

What we believe

We've come this far by faith. Our church was built on the rock, which is Jesus Christ.

In our own words
